Lieutenant Anthony York began his career with the Clark County School
District Police Department in April 1990, following four years of service
in the United States Air Force.
As an officer, he worked as a campus officer, a patrol
officer, a member of the gang unit, a department trainer, and as a firearm
instructor. As an author, Lt. York was instrumental in the redesign
of department forms and instruction guides (1992) and the development
of the Department Procedure Manual (1993). He was promoted to the rank
of Sergeant in December 1993. As a Sergeant, Lt. York supervised the
swing and grave patrol shifts, worked as an Area Sergeant, as a Regional
Sergeant and Bureau Commander. He also supervised the departments Emergency
Management, and Training functions.
Lt. York holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Criminal Justice both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He also earned an Associates Degree in Industrial Security from the Community College of the Air Force. Lt. York has been issued the following Nevada Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training (POST) Certifications: Basic (Category I Law Enforcement), Intermediate, Advanced, Management, and Firearm Instructor. Lt. York has additional course work in management, supervisory, technical, and specialty training including but not limited to instructor development (basic/Intermediate), field training, school resource, emergency management and grants to name just a few.
Lt. York has been a member of the following professional and civic organizations: American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers; National Association School Resource Officers; National Association of School Safety and Law Enforcement Officers; BEST Coalition – Board of Directors; Clark County Sport Shooting Park Advisory Committee; Participant with the Clark County Emergency Management Coordinator’s Group, Clark County Public Safety Coordination Team, and the Clark County Local Emergency Planning Committee; Volunteer Summer Camp Staff - Sunshine Foundation; Board of Directors for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation; and Volunteer Summer Camp Staff – NCCF Camp Cartwheel.
