CURRENT APPLICATION/TESTING PROCESS
- Advertising: Check local
newspapers August 10th through 31st of 2008.
- Informational Meetings: Will
be held on September 5th & 6th, 2008 at the School
Board Conference Room (2832 E. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas,
Nevada 89121). Interested persons MUST attend at least
one of these meetings to continue with the testing
process.
- Study Sessions: Will be held
on September 13th & 19th, 2008 at the School Board
Conference Room.
- Written Exam: Will be held
September 29th, 2008 at Cashman Center (850 Las Vegas
Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89101). Applications will be distributed
at the conclusion of this event.
- Application Closing Date: October
14th 2008.
- Physical Agility Test: Will
be held on October 18th, 2008 at Del Sol High School
(3100 E. Patrick, Las Vegas, 89120). Successful
candidates will be scheduled for interviews.
- Mock Interviews: Will
be held November 1st, 2008 at CCSD Police Headquarters
- Oral Board Interviews: Will be held
November 5th & 6th, 2008 at CCSD Police Headquarters.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
ENTRY LEVEL
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have a safe driving record.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Have the ability to obtain a Nevada drivers license prior to employment.
- Must attend and successfully complete a 22 week law enforcement
training academy.
LATERAL
- Must be Nevada Category 1 Post Certified with experience as a police
officer in the state of Nevada.
- Must fulfill entry level requirements
1 through 5.
OUT OF STATE IN-LIEU
- Must be certified as a police officer from a state that Nevada recognizes
as an in-lieu reciprocity state.
- Must meet or exceed the
current Nevada POST category 1 standards.
- Must fulfill entry level requirements 1 through
5 (above).
- Attend a 2 week (80hr) In-Lieu training program
EXAMINATIONS:
- Nevada Post Physical Capabilities Examination (Entry Level Recruit
and Out of State In-Lieu)
- Complete a vertical jump of
not less than 14 inches.
- Complete not less than 15
sit-ups in 1 minute.
- Complete not less than 18 push-ups.
- Run 300 meters in not more than
77 seconds.
- Walk or run 1.5 miles in not more than
17 minutes and 17 seconds.
- Written Examination (Entry

- Psychological Examination (All)
- Oral Examination/Interview (All)
- Comprehensive Medical Examination (All)
- Polygraph Examination (All)
- Background Investigation (All)
EXCLUSIONARY FACTORS:
- Convicted felons or persons convicted of domestic violence are not
eligible for hire as peace officers in the state of
Nevada per Nevada Revised Statute 202.360.
- Failure to honestly and completely
disclose any information during the application and
screening process.
- Failure to pass an extensive background investigation.

SALARY RANGE
Entry Level:
11-month (1,920 hrs) Assignment: $42,029 - $57,465
12-month (2,080 hrs) Assignment: $45,531 - $62,254
Lateral/Out of State In-Lieu:
Starting salary up to $51,188*
*Placement on the salary table will be commensurate with
years of experience. Months and hours may vary depending on your assignment
(11 or 12 months).
